| Sec. 1. Review and permitting requirements; sand and gravel pits. Resolved: That |
| the Department of Environmental Protection shall review the |
| differing review and permit requirements that apply to activities |
| that are undertaken in connection with sand and gravel pits, |
| including, but not limited to, the storage of various materials |
| and explosives, snow dumps, rock crushing and asphalt |
| reprocessing. The department shall create one point of contact |
| within the department for the public to inquire regarding the |
| requirements for such activities and the status of various |
| permitting applications. The department shall develop a proposal |
| by which to better coordinate the review, permitting and |
| enforcement of the various review and permit requirements and, no |
| later than November 2, 2005, shall submit its proposal to the |
| Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources. Based on its |
| review of the proposal, the committee may report out a bill to |
| the Second Regular Session of the 122nd Legislature. |
