Whereas, those populations are at an all-time low with little hope of change in the near future; and

Whereas, population sizes such as those on the Pleasant River are not sufficient in number to create a viable new population; and

Whereas, the federal restoration plan for the Pleasant River will take an estimated 35 years or more; now, therefore, be it

Sec. 1. Restoration of Atlantic salmon population in Pleasant River. Resolved: That the Department of Marine Resources shall use existing aquaculture technology to accomplish the restoration of Atlantic salmon to the Pleasant River within 5 years in sufficient quantity to allow sport fishing and viable numbers for spawning.
