Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §377 is enacted to read:

 
§377.__Switching parties

 
A candidate nominated by a party in a partisan election may
not switch parties during the elected term.

 
SUMMARY

 
This bill prohibits a candidate nominated by a party in a
contested election from switching political parties before the
election.
