Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §1202, sub-§1, śC, as amended by PL 1999, c. 386, Pt. F, §14 and c. 2003, c. 20, Pt. OO, §2 and affected by §4, is further amended by enacting subparagraph (9) to read:

(9)__A limited electrician in solar electric generation installation must satisfy requirements established by the board that demonstrate adequate knowledge in solar electric generation installation.__The requirements may include one or more of the following elements: successful completion of a certification program approved by the board for this purpose, a prescribed level of training and a minimum number of hours of experience.__The board may establish alternative requirements for licensure under this subparagraph, including the approval of more than one certification program.__The privileges of practice are restricted to work associated with solar electric generation systems.

SUMMARY

This bill establishes a limited electrician's license that allows a person to install solar electric generation systems. The bill authorizes the Electricians' Examining Board to determine certification requirements, including additional certification programs.
