RECREATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL CAMPS FOR

CHILDREN

§9001.__Background checks

An owner or operator of a camp established for recreational or educational activities for children shall obtain criminal history record information containing a record of conviction data from the Maine Criminal Justice Information System for an employee or person applying for employment at the camp.__Information obtained pursuant to this section is confidential and may be used only to determine suitability for employment at the camp.__The information may be provided to the employee or applicant for employment upon request by the employee or applicant for employment.

SUMMARY

This bill requires owners and operators of camps established for recreational or educational activities for children to conduct background checks on employees and applicants for employment.
