| | | Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2007 is enacted to read: |

| | | If an issuing authority under section 2002, subsection 9, | | paragraph A, subparagraph 1 denies an application for a permit | | under section 2003, an applicant may appeal in writing to the | | Chief of the State Police within 21 days of the denial.__The fee | | for an appeal is $25, which must be paid to the Chief of the | | State Police when the appeal is filed. |

| | | This bill allows an appeal of a denial of a concealed weapons | | permit to the Chief of the State Police if the issuing authority | | who denied the application is other than the Chief of the State | | Police. The appeal must be in writing and filed within 21 days | | of the denial. The fee for an appeal is $25, payable to the | | Chief of the State Police. |
