| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §13001, sub-§25, as enacted by PL 2003, c. 414, Pt. A, | | §2 and affected by c. 614, §9, is repealed and the following | | enacted in its place: |

| | | 25.__Snowmobile.__"Snowmobile" means a self-propelled vehicle | | manufactured for off-road travel on snow that: |
|
| | | A.__Has a curb weight of not more than 1,000 pounds; |
|
| | | B.__Does not exceed 50 inches in width; |
|
| | | C.__Is driven by a track or tracks in contact with the snow; | | and |
|
| | | D.__Is steered by a ski or skis in contact with the snow. |
|
| | | "Snowmobile" does not include a tracked vehicle engaged in a | | trail-grooming activity on a statewide snowmobile trail system or | | public right-of-way that is open to snowmobiling. |
|
| | | This bill amends the definition of "snowmobile" to match the | | definition in federal law. |
