SUBCHAPTER 14

RENT ASSISTANCE

§4994-A.__Security deposit assistance

The Maine State Housing Authority shall pay the security deposit for a person who qualifies and receives rent assistance from the Federal Government.__The security deposit must be paid directly to the landlord.__The authority shall adopt rules to carry out the provisions of this section.__ Rules adopted pursuant to this section are major substantive rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Maine State Housing Authority to pay the security deposit for a person who qualifies and receives rent assistance from the Federal Government. This bill requires that the security deposit be paid directly to the landlord.
