Sec. 1. 4 MRSA §118-A is enacted to read:

§118-A.__Law enforcement officer; reimbursement

1.__Testimony.__The court shall reimburse an employer of a law enforcement officer who testifies in Superior Court in a pretrial hearing for a Class D or Class E crime a flat fee of $50 for each day or part of a day that a law enforcement officer is physically present.

2.__Reimbursement.__The Administrative Office of the Courts shall use the Law Enforcement Agency Reimbursement Fund, as established in section 173, subsection 4-B, to reimburse employers pursuant to subsection 1.

SUMMARY

This bill requires a Superior Court to reimburse an employer from the Law Enforcement Agency Reimbursement Fund a flat fee of $50 per day or part of a day for any officer employed by that employer who testifies at a pretrial hearing for a Class D or Class E crime.
