Sec. 1. State nursing academic programs to study and identify trends in nursing workforce
shortages and capacity. Resolved: That each head of a nursing academic
program of the University of Maine System and Maine Technical
College System shall study and identify trends in the nursing
workforce shortage in the State and the capacity of the head's
program to graduate the necessary number of students to
address this shortage; and be it further

 
Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That each head of a nursing academic
program of the University of Maine System and Maine Technical
College System shall report the findings to the Joint Standing
Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs no later than
January 5, 2004; and be it further

 
Sec. 3. Appropriations and allocations. Resolved: That the following
appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Provides funds to the University of Maine System
for 56 associate degree candidate slots in nursing and 80
bachelor's degree candidate slots in nursing.
