3.__Criminal conviction.__Conviction of a crime, subject to
the limitations of Title 5, chapter 341, that if committed in the
State is punishable by one year or more of imprisonment;

 
4.__Violation.__Violation of this chapter or any rule adopted
by the department; or

 
5.__Unethical conduct.__A finding of a violation of the Code
of Ethics of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.

 
§1547.__Disclosure

 
A transliterator licensed pursuant to this chapter shall
disclose that person's license category, training and experience
to consumers and to a person engaging the transliterator's
services.__The department shall develop the content and form of
the disclosure pursuant to the Maine Administrative Procedure
Act.__Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine
technical rules pursuant to Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter II-
A.

 
§1548.__Conversion of registrants to limited licenses

 
On December 31, 2000, transliterators who have registered with
the department pursuant to chapter 22 and who do not possess the
educational and training requirements set forth in section 1538
or 1539 are eligible for the limited cued speech transliterator
license.__Those who obtain limited licensure status pursuant to
this section must comply with all other licensure requirements
and must complete the education and training requirements set
forth in section 1538 or 1539 within 3 years of obtaining a
limited license or be subject to nonrenewal.

 
Sec. 2. Department of Professional and Financial Regulation; report. The
Department of Professional and Financial Regulation shall report
to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having
jurisdiction over professional regulatory matters by February 15,
2003. The report must be developed by the Commissioner of
Professional and Financial Regulation in consultation with the
advisory council, created pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes,
Title 32, section 1536, subsection 4, and must include, but is
not limited to, a review of the adequacy of licensure standards
set forth in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 32, chapter 22-A,
and an assessment of the continued efficacy of an exemption from
licensure for nonresident cued speech transliterators. The
report may include suggested legislation based on the
recommendations of the department. The joint standing committee
of the Legislature having jurisdiction over professional
regulatory matters may submit legislation based on the
recommendations of the report.
