| | | Sec. 1. Department of Public Safety to study security and protection of state employees. | | Resolved: That the Department of Public Safety, within existing | | resources, shall conduct a study of: |

| | | 1. Current security and protection measures and practices | | that safeguard the well-being of state employees; and |
|
| | | 2. Possible improvements to the safeguards currently in | | place; and be it further |
|
| | | Sec. 2. Scope of study. Resolved: That the Department of Public Safety | | shall determine: |
|
| | | 1. Whether the current security practices and public safety | | measures employed at the State House complex are adequate; |
|
| | | 2. Whether the current security practices at other state | | government properties are adequate; and |
|
| | | 3. What laws, rules, practices or policies must be changed, | | implemented or clarified to improve the security and protection | | of state employees. |
|
| | | The department shall give separate and specific consideration | | to current measures employed in the executive, legislative and | | judicial branches; and be it further |
|
| | | Sec. 3. Report. Resolved: That the Department of Public Safety shall | | submit its report to the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal | | Justice and the Joint Standing Committee on State and Local | | Government by February 1, 2000. The committees may report out | | legislation regarding the study to the Second Regular Session of | | the 119th Legislature. |
