| | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows: |

| | | Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §54 is enacted to read: |

| | | §54.__State compliance with laws and regulations applied |
|
| | | All state departments, agencies and boards are required to | | comply with any law, rule or regulation for which compliance by | | the public or private industry is demanded.__Compliance pertains | | to all state laws, rules and regulations and all municipal | | ordinances and regulations. |

| | | Sec. 2. Liberal interpretation. The provisions of this Act are to be | | liberally construed. |
|
| | | Sec. 3. Effective date. This Act takes effect January 1, 2000. |
|
| | | This bill requires State Government to comply with all state | | and local laws for which compliance by the public and private | | industry is required. |
