Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §14802, sub-§10 is enacted to read:

10.__Self-service propane or natural gas dispensing station.__ A "self-service propane or natural gas dispensing station" means a station consisting of fixed equipment where propane or natural gas is stored and dispensed into a clean fuel vehicle, as defined in Title 36, section 1752, subsection 1-G, through pumps that have been certified to standards of safety equivalent to those applicable to gasoline delivery pumps certified for self-service operation by any motor vehicle operator.

Sec. 2. 32 MRSA §14816, as repealed and replaced by PL 1995, c. 625, Pt. A, §44, is amended to read:

§14816. Exemptions

This Act does not apply to self-service propane or natural gas dispensing stations. Nothing in this Act prohibits any person who is licensed to practice in this State under any other law from engaging in the practice for which that person is licensed.

SUMMARY

This bill exempts from the Propane and Natural Gas Act self- service propane or natural gas dispensing stations that dispense fuel into a clean fuel vehicle through pumps that have been certified to standards of safety equivalent to those applicable to gasoline delivery pumps certified for self-service operation by any motor vehicle operator.
