| | | Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §210-B is enacted to read: |

| | | §210-B. Deprivation of communication |
|
| | | 1.__A person is guilty of deprivation of communication if the | | person causes a telephone to be inoperable during the commission | | of abuse by that person.__For the purposes of this section, | | "abuse" has the meaning set forth in Title 19-A, section 4002, | | subsection 1. |

| | | 2.__Deprivation of communication is a Class D crime. |
|
| | | This bill makes it a Class D crime for a person committing | | domestic abuse to cause a telephone to be inoperable during the | | commission of that abuse. |
