Resolve, to Direct the Department of Labor to Determine the Cost of Providing Toll-free Telephone Access to All Mainers to Apply for Unemployment Compensation Benefits
Sec. 1. Toll-free telephone access. Resolved: That the Department of Labor shall investi-gate various methods of providing toll-free telephone access to offices that process claims for unemployment compensation and shall determine the cost of the various methods. The department shall provide cost information for providing such access to the areas of the State with higher than average unemployment and for providing such access to the entire State. The department shall report this information to the Joint Standing Committee on Labor not later than November 15, 1999. The Joint Standing Committee on Labor may report out legislation in response to this information to the Second Regular Session of the 119th Legislature.
