Fiscal Detail and Notes
The Department of Health and Human Services will require General Fund appropriations of $9,457,368 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $15,914,735 in fiscal year 2026-27 to reimburse hospitals beginning January 1, 2026 for MaineCare eligible children who are in hospital emergency rooms awaiting placement in a children's residential facility and to develop 3 crisis centers for children and adolescents with high levels of behavioral health needs and awaiting placement in a children's residential facility or community service. Federal Expenditures Fund and Federal Block Grant Fund allocations will also be required for the FMAP match for reimbursement to hospitals.
