Amend the bill by striking out the title and substituting the following:

‘An Act To Allow Food Delivery Vehicles To Display an Illuminated Sign’

Amend the bill by striking out everything after the enacting clause and before the summary and inserting the following:

Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §1922, sub-§4, ¶¶B and C,  as enacted by PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2 and affected by Pt. B, §5, are amended to read:

B. On a semitrailer, on the front portion of the semitrailer; and
C. On a truck, on the front portion of the storage compartment above and behind the cab . ; and

Sec. 2. 29-A MRSA §1922, sub-§4, ¶D  is enacted to read:

D On the roof of a privately owned automobile used for home delivery of commercially prepared food. An illuminated sign on an automobile under this paragraph:

(1) Must emit a white light;

(2) May not use primarily green, red or blue colors;

(3) May not have more than 4 sides and may not exceed 18 inches in height, 24 inches in length and 15 inches in width; and

(4) May be illuminated only at nighttime and during a delivery.

This amendment, which is the minority report of the committee, replaces the bill and changes the title. The amendment allows a privately owned automobile used for home delivery of commercially prepared food to display an illuminated sign at nighttime and during delivery.
