Amend the bill in section 1 in §480-E-3 in the first paragraph in the 4th and 5th lines (page 1, lines 9 and 10 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " , except Indian reservations,"

Amend the bill in section 1 in §480-E-3 in the first paragraph in the last line (page 1, line 15 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: "harvesting." the following: ' Prior to issuing a permit under this section for the mining of gravel used for the construction or maintenance of roads used primarily for timber harvesting in an organized area of the State, the Bureau of Forestry shall consult with the department.'

Amend the bill by inserting after section 1 the following:

summary

The bill provides that the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Bureau of Forestry must issue permits under the Natural Resources Protection Act for timber harvesting activities in all areas of the State, except Indian reservations. This amendment, which is the majority report, strikes the exemption for Indian reservations.

The amendment provides that the bureau must consult with the Department of Environmental Protection prior to issuing permits for the mining of gravel used for the construction and maintenance of roads used primarily for timber harvesting in the organized areas of the State.

The amendment also adds an appropriations and allocations section to the bill.
