Amend the amendment in section 1 in subsection 9 by inserting before the last blocked paragraph a new blocked paragraph to read:
‘ Notwithstanding section 2651, subsection 3, if sufficient funds exist in the Fund for the Efficient Delivery of Educational Services, created under section 2651, subsection 1, the department shall use those funds to provide 2 days of professional development to every school administrative unit to facilitate the transition to a standards-based educational system. These funds are provided on a one-time basis.’
SUMMARY
This amendment requires the Department of Education to provide 2 days of professional development to every school administrative unit to assist those school administrative units in the transition to the standards-based educational system proposed in Committee Amendment "A." The use of these funds for professional development is contingent on sufficient funds existing in the Fund for the Efficient Delivery of Educational Services.
