Resolve, To Improve Recycling in Maine

Sec. 1. Recycling study. Resolved: That the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources shall examine the scope of recycling in this State and the feasibility of making recycling more comprehensive. The costs of this study must be paid by using funds from unclaimed deposits on beverage containers transferred to the State pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 32, section 1866-E in an amount not to exceed 2% of such funds transferred to the State in fiscal year 2008-09. The department shall report the results of its study to the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry no later than December 2, 2009. The Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry may introduce legislation related to the report to the Second Regular Session of the 124th Legislature.
