| This bill establishes a new Class D crime and a new conditional Class C crime; increases correctional and judicial costs. State correctional sentences of more than nine months imposed for a Class C crime must be served in a state correctional facility. The average cost to the state for each sentence is $70,308 based on the average length of stay of one year , 10 months. Sentences for a Class D crime must be served in a County Jail. The average cost to a county for each Class D sentence is $6,795 based on an average length of stay of 62 days. | ||||||
