| The Department of Public Safety will require funding for one additional Public Safety Inspector I position, one additional State Police Detective position, one additional Office Assistant position and necessary operating expenses to administer and enforce the authorization of certain entities to conduct Texas hold 'em poker tournaments. The estimated costs are $150,713 and $211,915 in fiscal years 2007-08 and 2008-09, respectively. The Licensing and Enforcement program within the department is customarily funded through Other Special Revenue Funds. Currently budgeted resources for this program are not adequate to cover these additional expenses, thereby requiring General Fund appropriations as indicated. | ||||||
| In addition, the Maine State Grant Program within the Department of Education will receive additional dedicated revenue from certain tournament fees. The amounts will depend on the number and size of tournaments that are held and cannot be determined at this time. | ||||||
