| This legislation creates a Maine Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission to coordinate the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. A proposed fund will accept donations from private and public sources to cover the expenses of the commission. The fund will continue until December 31, 2015. The commission will initially require an Other Special Revenue Funds allocation to the Legislature of $7,820 annually beginning in fiscal year 2007-08 for per diem and expenses. This estimate does not include costs the commission is authorized to incur for an executive director, staff assistance, contracts, land, property or other expenses that may be determined necessary. The bill indicates additional appropriations may be requested from the Legislature. It is not clear whether the legislature would be responsible for administering the budget for the commission. | ||||||
