Fiscal Detail and Notes
The Board of Licensure in Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, will require Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $21,000 in fiscal year 2005-06 and $31,500 in fiscal year 2006-07 for the costs associated with the increase in the number of required due process hearings that would result from this legislation.  This fiscal estimate assumes an additional 6 hearings in fiscal year 2005-06 and 9 hearings in fiscal year 2006-07.  This fiscal estimate also assumes that existing judgments would be counted towards the total of 3 professional negligence judgments that would result in a license being revoked.  While this legislation will not require an immediate increase in fees to support the costs of the additional hearings, it will result in a fee increase occurring sooner than would have otherwise occurred if this legislation were not in place.
Any additional costs associated with this legislation can be absorbed by the Department of the Attorney General utilizing existing budgeted resources.
