The Secretary of
State's budget includes sufficient funds to accommodate one ballot of average
length for the general election in November. If the number or size of the
referendum questions increases the ballot length, an additional appropriation
of $8,000 or more may be required. A
special election would require an additional appropriation of $121,392. |

municipal clerks to mail absentee ballots to every registered voter

The
requirements involved in implementing a vote-by-mail system will necessitate
additional General Fund appropriations to the Department of the Secretary of
State in the amounts of $1,190,000 and $595,000 in fiscal years 2005-06 and
2006-07, respectively, for additional costs pertaining to ballots, absentee
ballot envelopes and postage. |
