| | | Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §1551 is enacted to read: |

| | | §1551. Accuracy of information |
|
| | | 1. Accurate records and release. The State Bureau of | | Identification shall by rule establish procedures to ensure that | | any information maintained by the bureau that is released in | | response to a criminal history record check request: |
|
| | | B. Accurately identifies the individual who is the subject | | of the request; and |
|
| | | C. Is released in accordance with law. |
|
| | | 2.__Rules.__Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine | | technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2- | | A. |

| | | This bill requires the State Bureau of Identification within | | the State Police under the Department of Safety to establish | | procedures by rule to ensure that information that is released as | | part of a criminal history record check is current and valid, | | identifies the correct individual and is released in accordance | | with law. |
