Sec. 1. 24-A MRSA §4321, sub-§4, ¶D, as enacted by PL 1997, c. 792, §3, is amended to read:

D. Providing information to consumers on health care plan performance by distributing materials and utilizing existing resources relating to health care plan performance, including executive compensation for the top 5 executives for carriers doing business in Maine and the medical loss ratio by line of insurance for those carriers.__When a carrier is a subsidiary or affiliate of a parent corporation located outside of Maine, the report must also include the compensation of the top 5 executives in the parent corporation.__Executive compensation and medical loss ratio information must be included in the annual report pursuant to paragraph J;

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Bureau of Insurance, Consumer Health Care Division to provide information to consumers regarding executive compensation for carriers doing business in Maine and the medical loss ratio by line of insurance for those carriers.
