Sec. 1. Review of issues; development of proposal. Resolved: That the
Department of Health and Human Services shall examine the issues
surrounding minority health, including the gaps in health status
among citizens of the State of different racial and ethnic
groups. In conducting its review, the department may invite the
participation of interested stakeholders. Based on its review of
the issues, the department shall develop a proposal to create the
Office of Minority Health within the Department of Health and
Human Services; and be it further

 
Sec. 2. Submission of proposal. Resolved: That, no later than November 2,
2005, the Department of Health and Human Services shall submit
its proposal, along with any necessary implementing legislation,
for presentation to the Second Regular Session of the 122nd
Legislature. The department is authorized to introduce a bill
related to its proposal to the Second Regular Session of the
122nd Legislature at the time of submission of its proposal.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve directs the Department of Health and Human
Services to develop a proposal to create the Office of Minority
Health within the department and to submit its proposal to the
Second Regular Session of the 122nd Legislature.
