This bill provides funds to the University of Maine System and the Maine Technical College System for additional nursing degree candidate slots.  For the University of Maine System, the cost includes funding 80 bachelor degree in nursing slots at $10,015 per slot per year and 56 associate degree in nursing slots at $8,600 per slot per year.  For the Maine Technical College System, the cost for one associate degree in nursing slot is $7,500 per year.  Given this estimate, the cost to fund 56 slots is $420,000 per year, which is $61,600 less than the appropriation provided in the bill.  Any additional costs to the University of Maine System and the Maine Technical College System to conduct the study and issue the required report can be absorbed by both Systems utilizing existing budgeted resources.
