Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §6433-B is enacted to read:

§6433-B.__Runners

1.__Definitions.__As used in this section, unless the context otherwise indicates, the term "runner" means a device on the bottom of a lobster trap that allows the trap to be pulled smoothly out of the water.

2.__Required.__A lobster trap must have 2 runners that are:

A.__Made out of any material;

B.__Each 1/4 inch thick; and

C.__Placed on opposite sides of the bottom of the lobster trap.

SUMMARY

This bill requires a lobster trap to have 2 runners that are made out of any material, each 1/4 inch thick and placed on opposite sides of the bottom of the lobster trap.
