| | | Sec. 1. 24-A MRSA §2164-C, as amended by PL 1993, c. 203, §1, is | | repealed and the following enacted in its place: |

| | | §2164-C.__Free competition |

| | | An insurer, domestic or foreign, may not use a 3rd-party | | claims administrator or agent to process or perform, directly or | | indirectly, appraisals, repairs or replacement of motor vehicle | | glass if the 3rd-party claims administrator or agent has a | | business affiliation with a retailer, wholesaler or manufacturer | | of motor vehicle glass. |

| | | This bill allows insurers to use independent 3rd-party claims | | administrators or agents for auto glass claims, but prohibits the | | use of a 3rd-party administrator or agent that is affiliated with | | the glass industry. |
