| | | Sec. 1. 5 MRSA §54 is enacted to read: |

| | | §54.__Electronic filing; facsimile signatures |
|
| | | By the year 2001, every state agency, department, board, | | commission, institution, authority or public instrumentality that | | requires filing of information from businesses shall have | | available, in coordination with the Informations Services Policy | | Board, the technologies that permit the filing of that | | information by electronic transmission and permit facsimile | | signatures on filed documents. |

| | | This bill requires, within 2 years' time, that all state | | agencies have available technology that permits the filing of | | documents by electronic transmission. |
