Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §1015, sub-§3, as enacted by PL 1985, c. 161, §6, is amended to read:

3. Aggregate contributions. No An individual may not make contributions to candidates aggregating more than $25,000 in any calendar year. This limitation does not apply to contributions in support of a candidate by that candidate or his spouse. to:

A.__Candidates; or

B.__Political action committees that support candidates for state office.

The limitation imposed under paragraph A does not apply to contributions by a candidate or the candidate's spouse in support of the candidate's own candidacy.

SUMMARY

This bill limits to $25,000 aggregate yearly contributions by an individual to political action committees that support candidates for state office.
