Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §5201, sub-§2, ¶B, as amended by PL 1993, c. 201, §1, is further amended to read:

B. A person who will be at least 5 years old on October 15th July 1st of the upcoming school year may enroll in school.

SUMMARY

This bill allows a child who has reached age 5 by July 1st, rather than by October 15th as under current law, to enroll in school. As under current law, this bill leaves the decision of appropriate grade placement to each school administrative unit.
