An Act to Discourage Frivolous Appeals

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

     Sec. 1. 14 MRSA §1802 is amended to read:

§1802. Appeal found to be frivolous

     If an appeal to the law court or Superior Court is found by that court to have been frivolous and intended for delay, treble costs may be allowed to the prevailing party.

Effective September 21, 2001, unless otherwise indicated.
