Amend the amendment in subsection 1 in the 7th and 8th lines
(page 1, lines 32 and 33 in amendment) by striking out the
following: "the minimum hourly wage is $6.75 per hour.__Starting
October 1, 2007, the minimum hourly wage is $7.00 per hour." and
inserting in its place the following: 'and every October 1st
thereafter, the Commissioner of Labor shall adjust the minimum
hourly wage by any percentage change in the Consumer Price Index
from January 1st to December 31st of the previous year.__For
purposes of this subsection,__"Consumer Price Index" means the
average over a 12-month period of the National Consumer Price
Index, not seasonally adjusted, published monthly by the Bureau
of Labor Statistics, United States Department of Labor designated
as the "National Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers-
United States City Average." '

 
SUMMARY

 
This amendment removes the provisions that provide increases
in the minimum hourly wage to $6.75 and $7.00 per hour and
instead provides that starting October 1, 2006, and every October
1st thereafter, the Commissioner of Labor shall adjust the
minimum hourly wage by any percentage change in the Consumer
Price Index in the previous year.
