The Educational and General Activities - UMS program within the University of Maine System (UMS) will require a one-time General Fund appropriation of $15,000 in fiscal year 2023-24 for the cost associated with faculty and/or graduate student researchers conducting a literature review of the effects of so-called 5G wireless technology on bird, bee and insect populations as well as the effects of long-term exposure to the so-called 5G wireless technology and radio frequency radiation on children in educational settings.  The UMS has indicated that the cost to do a clinical study would be at least $100,000.
