Fiscal Detail and Notes
The repeal of the Hospital and Health Care Provider Cooperation Act will eliminate the annual assessment required by the Act on any hospital licensed by the Department of Health and Human Services. The bill includes Other Special Revenue Funds deallocations to the department of $204,446 in fiscal year 2023-24 and $204,446 in fiscal year 2024-25 due to the repeal. There is also a corresponding reduction in revenue received by the department in each year.
Elimination of the assessment will eliminate funding for one Assistant Attorney General position provided to the Office of the Attorney General to carry out the purposes of the Act. The bill includes Other Special Revenue Funds deallocations to the office of $183,812 in fiscal year 2023-24 and $192,567 in fiscal year 2024-25. Revenue received by the Office of the Attorney General will also be reduced by the same amounts in each year.
The Office of the Attorney General has indicated that it may require additional funding to carry out certain functions provided by the Assistant Attorney General position that will no longer be funded due to the repeal of the Act.
