Fiscal Detail and Notes
This bill includes ongoing General Fund appropriations of $8,500,000 per year beginning in fiscal year 2021-22 to a newly created Maine Rental Assistance and Voucher Guarantee Program within the Maine State Housing Authority (MSHA) to both assist individuals with the cost of rent and to encourage landlords to work with the program and other rental assistance programs in the State.
The Maine Rental Assistance and Voucher Guarantee Program will also require additional ongoing General Fund appropriations of $850,000 per year beginning in fiscal year 2021-22 for the initial startup and ongoing administrative costs for MSHA to administer the program.
