Amend the amendment in section 2 in the first paragraph in the 2nd line (page 2, line 2 in amendment) by striking out the following: "23" and inserting the following: '20'

Amend the amendment in section 2 by striking out all of subsections 1 and 2 (page 2, lines 3 to 7 in amendment) and inserting the following:

‘1. One member of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate;

2. One member of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House;’

Amend the amendment in section 2 in subsection 3 in the first line (page 2, line 8 in amendment) by striking out the following: "Seventeen" and inserting the following: 'Sixteen'

Amend the amendment in section 2 in subsection 3 by striking out all of paragraph C (page 2, lines 16 and 17 in amendment) and inserting the following:

‘

C. Two members who are Child Development Services System staff members who provide direct services, appointed by the Speaker of the House;

Amend the amendment in section 2 in subsection 3 by striking out all of paragraphs F and G (page 2, lines 23 to 31 in amendment) and inserting the following:

‘

F. One member who is a teacher in an early childhood education program for children 4 years of age that includes coordination of programs and services for eligible children within a public elementary school from a large school administrative unit, representing the Maine Education Association, appointed by the President of the Senate;

G. One member who is a special education director from a small school administrative unit, representing the Maine Administrators of Services for Children with Disabilities, appointed by the President of the Senate;

Amend the amendment in section 2 in subsection 3 in paragraph J in the last line (page 3, line 4 in amendment) by striking out the following: "Speaker of the House" and inserting the following: 'President of the Senate'

summary

This amendment reduces the number of members on the Task Force To Study and Plan for the Implementation of Maine's Early Childhood Special Education Services from 23 to 20 and changes the appointing authority for one of the members.
