An Act To Lower the Price MaineCare Pays for Prescription Drugs
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §20 is enacted to read:
§ 20. Prescription drug prices under MaineCare
Unless prohibited under the United States Social Security Act or any other federal law or regulation, the commissioner shall negotiate the lowest purchase price for all prescription drugs for any program administered under the auspices of MaineCare.
SUMMARY
This bill requires, unless prohibited by federal law, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services to negotiate the lowest purchase price for all prescription drugs for programs under MaineCare.
