Amend the bill by striking out all of section 2 and inserting the following:

Sec. 2. 25 MRSA §2011, sub-§3-A  is enacted to read:

3-A Exception for emergency medical services vehicle.   This section does not prohibit an order, ordinance, rule or regulation of any political subdivision requiring that a firearm carried inside an emergency medical services vehicle that is owned or operated by or on behalf of the political subdivision be locked in a lockbox by emergency medical services personnel.

SUMMARY

This amendment is one of 2 minority reports from the committee. The amendment does not prohibit a political subdivision of the State from adopting an order, ordinance, rule or regulation requiring that a firearm carried inside an emergency medical services vehicle that is owned or operated by or on behalf of the political subdivision be locked in a lockbox by emergency medical services personnel.
