Resolve, To Promote Internet Safety in Schools

Sec. 1. Commissioner of Education to develop student Internet safety guidelines. Resolved: That the Commissioner of Education shall develop Internet safety guidelines for students who have received laptop computers under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 20-A, section 15689-A, subsection 8. The guidelines required under this section must include safety guidance such as not talking to strangers, not going to certain websites and how to protect personal identifying information. The commissioner shall distribute the safety guidelines to every student who receives a laptop computer under Title 20-A, section 15689-A, subsection 8 and shall publish the safety guidelines on a publicly accessible website.

SUMMARY

This resolve requires the Commissioner of Education to develop Internet safety guidelines for students and others who have received laptop computers under the program that supplies laptop computers to middle school students.
