An Act To Improve Beach-cast Seaweed Management for Health, Ecology and Tourism
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 38 MRSA §480-Q, sub-§16-A is enacted to read:
16-A. Municipal removal of beach-cast seaweed after storm or tide. Removal by a municipality of beach-cast seaweed from a coastal sand dune system where a large storm or tide has deposited a large amount of beach-cast seaweed;

This bill allows municipalities to remove beach-cast seaweed without having to obtain a permit pursuant to the Natural Resources Protection Act after large storms or tides have deposited large amounts of beach-cast seaweed.
