An Act To Increase Railroad Freight Safety

Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §7015  is enacted to read:

§ 7015.  Crew size; freight train

A railroad company or railroad authority shall ensure that there are at least 2 employees on a freight train traveling on a railroad line within the State, except for a freight train traveling for hostler service. A railroad company or railroad authority that violates this section is subject to a fine of not more than $500 for every violation of this section.
