Amend the bill in section 3 in §1912-C by inserting after subsection 5 the following:

‘ 6. Grandfathered signs. Notwithstanding any provision of this section to the contrary, this section does not apply to a supplemental guide sign that was lawfully installed prior to July 1, 2014. The signing agency may change the location of a supplemental guide sign that was lawfully installed prior to July 1, 2014 to a location that is closer to the destination displayed on the supplemental guide sign.’

SUMMARY

This amendment exempts from the provisions of the bill those supplemental guide signs that were lawfully installed prior to July 1, 2014. In addition, this amendment authorizes the Maine Turnpike Authority or the Department of Transportation, as appropriate, to change the location of a supplemental guide sign that was lawfully installed prior to July 1, 2014 to a location that is closer to the destination displayed on the supplemental guide sign.
