An Act To Prohibit the Requirement That Proof of Citizenship Be Submitted for Renewal of a Driver's License
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §1406, sub-§4, as amended by PL 2011, c. 356, §19, is further amended to read:
4. Renewals. Prior to the expiration of a license to operate a motor vehicle, the Secretary of State shall send the license holder a renewal notice. The Secretary of State may not require a birth certificate or other documentation to prove the citizenship of a person renewing a license under this chapter.
