Resolve, Requiring the Department of Economic and Community Development To Develop Incentives for Industries in the State To Increase Employment of Maine Residents

Sec. 1. Development of hiring incentives. Resolved: That the Department of Economic and Community Development shall work with the Department of Labor, the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of Revenue Services and regional planning commissions to develop incentives for manufacturing, agricultural and creative industries in the State to increase their employment of residents of the State; and be it further

Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That the Department of Economic and Community Development shall submit a report of its findings under section 1, including any necessary implementing legislation, to the Joint Standing Committee on Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development by December 4, 2013. Upon receipt and review of the report, the committee may submit legislation to the Second Regular Session of the 126th Legislature.

This bill requires the Department of Economic and Community Development to work with the Department of Labor, the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Bureau of Revenue Services and regional planning commissions to develop incentives for manufacturing, agricultural and creative industries in the State to increase their employment of Maine residents. The Department of Economic and Community Development is directed to submit a report of its findings, including any necessary implementing legislation, to the Joint Standing Committee on Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development by December 4, 2013.
