An Act To Increase Public Awareness Regarding School Budget Elections
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §1486, sub-§3, ¶F, as repealed and replaced by PL 2009, c. 415, Pt. B, §7, is amended to read:
(1) "Do you favor approving the (name of regional school unit) budget for the upcoming school year in the amount of (total dollar amount of school budget), which is (an increase or a decrease) of (percentage amount of increase or decrease) from last year's budget, that was adopted at the latest (name of regional school unit) budget meeting?

This bill changes the form of the question required in a budget validation referendum for a regional school unit to include the total dollar amount of the school budget and the percentage increase or decrease in the school budget compared to the budget in the previous year.
